Good Friday

This was a Good Friday.  We went to the Good Friday celebration (there is no mass on Good Friday) this evening and I was so tired.  I felt bad because I was nodding off.  But when we went up to venerate the cross, well...some how watching my kids and my wife kneel down and kiss the cross almost reduced me to tears.  One of those moments of Grace.  After church, Father Marek came back in and reminded everyone that we would be starting the Divine Mercy Novena.  I really like the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  I used to like the more orthodox version on EWTN, but I've come to really love the Divine Mercy Chaplet in song version.  I even bought the cd.  Anyway, at church we didn't sing the chaplet we just recited it.  It is still a pretty powerful devotion.  Worshiping with my family is such a special thing.  It reminds me of when Jacob was little.  We attended Queen of Peace back then.  He used to cry and scream and I'd end up having to take him outside for a little attitude adjustment.  I can remember him yelling, "GET ME OUT OF HERE!" like he was...well, you know.  But now he is more catholic than the pope as they say.  I'm a lucky man.
