Once the plumber fixed the problem and left, there was still the mess to deal with. I thought the soaked carpet wasn't a good thing to have around and I thought it should probably be ripped up. Well, Rick said they couldn't afford to replace the carpet so we should go rent a rug doctor and that would be good enough. I still am not sure about this. I'll have to do some research on the health benefits of sewage-steeped carpet. In the interim, we rented the rug doctor, sucked up as much of the water as we could and shampooed the carpet. Actually, Jennifer did it. I had just had my back worked on by Dr. Heckman. We've got fans blowing on the carpets now. I've heard the noise drives germs away.
