Clogged Toilets

Wednesday evening, when Jennifer and I were out on the treadmill and bike, Jacob comes up to elicit help for unclogging a toilet.  Not just one, but both of them weren't flushing and no amount of plunging or snaking would get them to flush.  I even boiled a big pot of water and poured dish soap down (not in that order) in hopes that would loosen the blockage.  No such luck.  You can probably see where this is going.  We were talking with Jacob, trying to explain how much we love him when he noticed that the carpet was soggy beneath his feet.  It was then that it dawned on me that the problem was much worse than a clogged toilet.  We either had an overloaded septic tank or we had a blocked line going to the septic tank.  Either way, the results were not pretty.  I ran to the hot water/furnace room and sure enough, there was standing water.  Ran to the bathtub, yuck.  Well, I'll try to finish the story on my next post.
